How the Showdown Works

Your guide to competing, voting, and winning in the OnStager Showdown.

The Monthly Cycle

The OnStager Showdown runs in a continuous monthly cycle, giving every artist a fresh chance to shine.

  • Submissions (Days 1-7): Artists can submit one eligible album to compete in a genre of their choice.
  • Voting (Days 8-28): The competition begins! Fans can vote for their favorite albums in each genre and location.
  • Winners Announced (End of Month): Local champions and the global winner for each genre are crowned.
  • The Cycle Repeats: A new month begins with a clean slate!
Voting Rules

To keep things fair and exciting, here’s how voting works:

  • Five Votes, Five Genres: You have a total of five votes to cast each month. You can use one vote in up to five different genre categories. This encourages discovery across the platform!
  • One Vote Per Genre: You can only vote for one album within each genre category per month. Choose your favorite!
  • Votes Reset Monthly: Your five votes will reset at the beginning of each new monthly showdown.
  • Anonymous Totals: To prevent bias, vote counts are hidden until the competition ends. Every vote matters!
  • Support Your Scene: Use the location filter to vote for artists in your local music scene and help them become a Local Champion.
Winning the Showdown

There are two levels of victory each month:

Local Champion

The album with the most votes within a specific country (e.g., USA, UK) for a genre is crowned the Local Champion.

Global Title Holder

All Local Champions for a genre compete. The one with the most votes worldwide becomes the Global Title Holder for the month.

At the end of the year, the 12 monthly Global Title Holders from each genre will be invited to a final "Champions Showdown" to determine the ultimate winner for the year.
